Miriam Vogel has extensive experience working with C-suite, board of directors, policy makers, lawyers, and other key stakeholders to establish best practices for operationalizing AI governance. Her work has had a profound impact within Fortune 100 companies across multiple industry sectors. She is the President and CEO of EqualAI, the nonprofit organization that enables broader adoption through AI literacy and helps companies, policymakers, and leading institutions define and implement AI governance frameworks that foster innovation. Miriam hosts the In AI We Trust? podcast to raise AI literacy awareness and is the co-author of Governing the Machine: How to Navigate the Risks of AI and Unlock Its True Potential (Bloomsbury, October 2025).
 
Miriam served as Chair of the National AI Advisory Committee (NAIAC), mandated by Congress to advise the President and White House on AI policy and has taught Technology Law and Policy at Georgetown University Law Center (GULC), where she serves on the Board of Visitors. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves as a senior advisor to the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT). 
 
Miriam has served in a variety of leadership positions across the U.S. government and the private sector. She served in the White House in two administrations, including as the Acting Director of Justice and Regulatory Affairs. Most recently, she served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice (DOJ), where she advised the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General (DAG) on a broad range of legal, policy, and operational issues. She spearheaded the DOJ’s Intellectual Property (IP) efforts to identify and dismantle IP theft domestically and internationally, and worked with the DAG and AG to manage DOJ divisions’ multibillion-dollar budgets, resolve high-level challenges, and represented DOJ before the White House, Congress, and other officials on high-level policy initiatives and oversight matters.
 
Miriam served as General Counsel to WestExec Advisors and Associate General Counsel at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Prior to that, she practiced entertainment/corporate transactional law at Sheppard Mullin in Los Angeles, California. She began her legal career as a federal clerk in Denver, Colorado, after graduating from GULC and is a third generation alumna from the University of Michigan. 
Miriam is also a frequent speaker and panelist at high-profile global events, sharing insights on responsible AI, innovation, and governance at Dreamforce, the World Economic Forum, SXSW, The Atlantic Festival, and a wide range of executive, legal, and board summits. Her ability to translate complex policy and technical issues into accessible, actionable insights has made her a trusted voice among business leaders, technologists, and policymakers alike.
 
Miriam was named a recipient of Forbes’ and Mika Brzezinski’s 2025 Forbes 50 over 50 and has been honored as a 2023, 2024, 2025 Washingtonian Tech Titan by Washingtonian magazine, which recognizes the most prominent technology leaders who are defining the industry’s trajectory.
